We are about two months into the school year here at Iowa. It has been a fun year. I wanted to create a blog to keep people updated on what is going on at Cru at the University of Iowa. Sorry it has taken me so long to create this. The weekend of Sept 25-27 we had our first conference of the year. It was our Fall Getaway that lasted from Friday at 8PM till Sunday at noon. It was a great time. About 130 students from the University of Iowa went to East Iowa Bible Camp this weekend. Dan Allen from the University of Missouri-St Louis was the main speaker. He did an amazing job speaking this weekend and the students really connected with his message.
Some of the highlights from the weekend:
Jordan Den Hartog completed the gallon challenge! 10 students competed in the gallon challenge. The competition calls for students to chug a gallon of milk in under an hour and keep it down. Only one of these students did, congrats JDH.
Dan Allen - Dan did a great job of challenging the students through the book of Exodus. He spoke of being open to the calling of the Lord, growing in rich Biblical community and trusting the Lord as he calls us. The students really responded to the talks. We are thankful Dan was able to come. He leads the San Diego Summer Project and many of the Iowa Cru students have been able to go on that project.
Biblical Community - It is always exciting to see students form new friendships at the Fall Getaway. It is fun to see the students connect with each other at the Getaway. I know for me as a student the Fall Getaway was a great time for me to form new frienships and it was fun to see the new students connect. It was a blessing from the Lord and we are excited to see it continue as the school year moves along.
Iowa Game - On Iowa!! It was a blast watching the Iowa game with 100 other students. Iowa knocked off the 5th ranked Penn State Nittany Lions on the road. It was an awesome game.
-celebrating a Hawkeye TD!
Talent Show - Saturday Night closed with a talent show. All the acts were great. Show below was the dance off between Kevin Coporu and RJ. Amazing!
The Fall Getaway ended at noon on Sunday. It is always amazing to see what the Lord does during the 3 days at East Iowa Bible Camp. Each year God shows up in amazing ways. It is a blast to see students challenged and grow in their relationship with the Lord. It is awesome to see students excited about their walk with the Lord and want to share the message of Jesus with those back on campus. It encourages and excites me to see what the Lord is doing here at Iowa and I am excited to see what he will continue to do the rest of the year.
Thanks for reading.
